Why and How to Clear Your Cache
Clear your cache when the Anna Aspnes Designs website isn’t behaving — checkout problems, outdated pages, and security warnings are often a two-minute fix.
If the Anna Aspnes Designs site is doing something odd — you can’t get in, checkout is acting up, or your browser is throwing malware warnings out of nowhere — there’s a good chance your cache is behind it. Below is a plain-language explanation of what cache is, why it causes these problems, and exactly how to clear it.
What Is a Cache?
A cache is a reserved storage location that helps your browser run faster. Think of it as a small drawer under your desk that holds temporary files you reach for often — quick access means less waiting. Useful, until the drawer fills up or the files inside go stale.
That’s exactly what happens every time we update the Anna Aspnes Designs website. Your browser may still be pulling from an older version it has stored, rather than loading what’s actually there now. Learn more about cache here.
Why You Need to Clear Your Cache
There are three situations where clearing your cache makes a real difference:
1. Disk Space and Speed
Cache accumulates over time and can eat up a surprising amount of disk space. When that happens, you may notice your browser slowing down — or your whole computer running sluggishly while you browse.
2. Outdated Pages
A cached version of a website can linger long after we’ve updated it — meaning you might be looking at an older page without knowing it. Deleting the cache forces your browser to go fetch the current version.
3. Privacy and Security
Clearing your cache also removes your browsing history from local storage, which matters for privacy and can resolve false security warnings your browser may be pulling from outdated cached data.

How to Clear Your Cache
Two steps, then a reboot:
- → Clear your cache in every major browser — Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge. The Lifewire guide has step-by-step instructions for each.
- → Flush your DNS cache — this video walks through the process.
- → Fully shut down and reboot your computer — not Restart, a complete shutdown. Then, power back on.
Important: Shut Down is not the same as Restart. A full shutdown clears more temporary data than a restart does — so make sure you’re choosing Shut Down from your system menu, waiting for the computer to power off completely, then turning it back on.
