Homemade Costume | Miki
Repetition and Emphasis. Repeating techniques and elements in your layouts creates emphasis in the story and unity in the design. Notice how Miki has duplicated the use of the LabeledWord ‘Hours’ for greater effect, both her extraction and title are outlined to look like stickers and the sporadic use of orange leads the eye around the page.
In the Twilight | Ulla-May
Focus on Color. Create a monotone or black/white layout and draw attention with a splash of a single color. Notice how Ulla-May has applied a selective coloring technique to her image to draw the eye to the focal point.
Winter Scenes | Heather
Outside-The-Box Thinking. ArtPlay MiniPalette Twilight leans toward Halloween but can be interpreted in so many other ways. Look at the colors and imagery. Consider what you can hide or add to support your story. I love how Heather has created a transitional autumn to winter layout.
